Eleutherodactylus coqui from Puerto Rico is the most conspicuous nocturnal species in the Fuqua Conservatory. Nighttime in the conservatory is a wonderful place to see Coquis in action. Pictured here is a male frog, out singing trying to woo a female to mate. Coquis are direct developers meaning that developing embryos skip the free-swimming larval stage and trying Coquis will pop out of the eggs during hatching. #Eleutherodactylus #Eleutherodactyluscoqui #Eleutherodactylidae #directdevelopers #directdevelopment
