The Eyelash Marsupial Frog, Gastrotheca cornuta from #Panama. One of the species rescued from a chytrid fungus outbreak in Central Panama back in 2005. Our amphibian conservation program was the first to breed this species in captivity, and its truly an amazing thing to witness. The male fertilizes the eggs and inserts then into a pouch on the female's back. She carries them until development is complete and baby frogs crawl out her back. #Gastrothecacornuta #Gastrotheca #Hemiphractidae #DirectDevelopment #frogPOD #CaptiveBreeding #CaptiveBred #Chytrid #ChytridFungus
